This journal is the story of our daughter Alice, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy on March 6, 2007 when she was just eight months old. On May 15, 2007, she received a reinfusion of her own umbilical cord blood stem cells at Duke Medical Center. The outcome of this procedure is unknown, as she was only the eighth child in the U.S. to receive this form of treatment at the time. Alice is being observed annually by a team of specialists at the Center for Development and Learning in Chapel Hill.
Please share this journal freely, and check in on us regularly. We chronicled her procedure from start to finish and have since used the journal to report on her progress, as well as share the joys and woes of life as a family affected by cerebral palsy. We are thankful for our new friends who continue to check in on Alice and share in our journey. Thanks for reading!
